I have been working on my family history for 30 years. The "bad apples" are the most fun to uncover.

@Fluffybull Oh the shame!!!

@exexec I think at the time he was let off coz he'd come back from the war after getting a head injury and had a metal plate in his head and his personality had changed. But it does add a bit of colour to the family tree 😉.

@SW-User Actually, I've just dug up something s bit scandalous and I'm 90% certain it's my maternal grandfather on the "god-fearing law-abiding" side of the family......😱🤭😂🤣😂🥺

@SW-User I found it just by chance! I don't know who my maternal grandfather's parents were but I knew he was born in a certain part of the isle of Skye. So I just googled his name and area and up popped a civil court case from 1919. I said to R "I hope that wasn't one of my relatives!" 🤭 but realised there were probably a few farmers on Skye with his name. BUT found an excerpt from a book written in 1938 about the clans on Skye including my grandfather's name. Found his father and dates and the farm he had then his children (including my grandfather and his children including my mother and her siblings) Then I went back to the court case and the farmer being taken to court had managed his father's farm at one time and the name of the farm was the same name as in the excerpt from the book! That is, my great-grandfather had the same farm which the father of the accused in the court case had managed! The dates kind of fit but as I don't know my grandfather's exact birth year, I'm going to get copy of his marriage certificate to check! It wasn't a nice case, his live-in housekeeper became pregnant and took him to court for what these days would be classed as stalking, grooming, taking advantage of his position also failing to support illegitimate child!!!!!!! This is particularly ironic as my mother's side of the family were strict Free Church Presbyterians and didn't believe in s*x before marriage in fact didn't approve of it at all!!!! 😱🤣😂🤣😂
