Well dinner was interesting

So I'm not really sure how it happened. Burgers turned out great, chicken was amazing. The boys were sitting at the table and i gave them their plates. Star and Joel's ex were sitting at the table. I cut our oldest boys burger into bite size pieces. I went back to to get a drink. I see Star going in the house, Joel's ex gets up as well.

I'm not sure why everyone left the table.

Then I hear our youngest

Daddy, Papa I think brother is choking.

Joel rushes over and everything happened so fast. He got him up and did the heimlich on him. The food came up and he started breathing. I don't know how we all just walked away from the table. That never happens.

He is crying and Joel is trying to calm him down. Once he is calm he Joel sits him down and sits next to him. His mother sits next to him as well and makes sure he's okay.

Papa I took to many bites.

Joel doesn't say anything but just pulls him close

Yeah you did hijo.

I'm sorry Papa. I didn't mean too.

Again Joel didn't say anything he just pulled him close and kissed his forehead.

Like I said. I don't know how all the adults walked away from the table but I know it will never happen again.

The rest of the evening was less eventful.

Thank God our youngest noticed right away.

That was a close call. Too close. Thank goodness for Joel's quick thinking and action.

@onrealityofdreams yes it was. I don't know how we let it happen. Someone always sits with him. Always. I'm still in shock over it
@Cigarguy Not to be flippant but these things happen. Quick and proper reactions on Joel's part saved the day.

@onrealityofdreams yes that is very true. Thankfully he's fine now and even finished his dinner with all the adults sitting near him.
@Cigarguy That's good to hear.

@Cigarguy I'm guessing that he gets engrossed in the meal if there's nothing else to draw his attention away, such as conversation or TV-type things. I was the same way when I was about his age. Eventually, I learned to take bites and engage with others, not necessarily talking but meeting with my parents or brother's eyes and listening to others talking. I learned to slow my roll, ya know. 😁

@Levenrack yeah sometimes he just forget to chew and he ate more than one bite. Sometimes we have to remind him to chew and swallow before he takes another bite. It's also why we cut up his food. He'd take too big for a bite if we didn't.
