Children grow up. Dogs are eternal kids
Anton · 61-69, M
Animals are animals and they should be treated like animals. Yes, you have to care for them well and to some extent you have to love them, but as an animal. There are boundaries than cannot be overstepped. To engage into relationships with animals as substitute for people (or calling them your children) is strong indication of a mental disorder of some sorts or signs of personal disconnection with reality. In my opinion people who treat their dogs like children (or any pet for that matter) are engaging in borderline softcore bestiality.

It’s pretty close. In some ways it’s better

Yes. In the way a dog requires to be cared for. So many people choose to have dogs and not babies. They believe it fills a gap without all the extra it takes to raise a child.

I imagine some do, but I think most people just acknowledge the similarities. Those who see non-human animals as beings worthy of of love and respect, anyway.

It’s not the same although both depend on you to survive.
