Question for everyone who became pregnant

Do you have any stories of people getting some sort of a period yet getting a positive test? I have heard of implantation bleeding and also stories where there was bleeding significant enough to be considered periods and yet they were pregnant then. My question is, do you always have to miss a period to be pregnant?

my daughter with her second daughter spotted. i told her to take a pregnancy test. it was positive and i told her to get to the hospital. she was 5 months pregnant with a little girl

@akindheart that probably wasn’t period related , but pregnancy related .
akindheart · 61-69, F
@AthrillatheHunt hard to remember the details because it happened about 23 years ago but it seemed like she had periods .

You can't have a normal menstrual period while pregnant. There may be reasons for blood while pregnant though, if that makes sense.

I would not recommend getting sexual health advice from similar worlds though there's more specialized places online to look.

I had a period for the first month or two with two of my pregnancies. Looked like regular period so I had no idea I was pregnant. Doctor said it wasn’t a real period but implantation.

My mother had bleeding for the first 3–4 months of her pregnancy with me, but this is due to a problem she had with her uterus. She was advised to abort as the pregnancy was very dangerous. I was told she had blood transfusions.

I have been pregnant three times already, and my periods stopped immediately, and I never had any spotting or bleeding. Sometimes it is normal for women to have spotting in the very early stages, but more than this should be checked.

My sister still bled when pregnant with one of hers for the first several months and didn't know she was pregnant until month 5.

Typically you miss all said periods until you give birth

Pretty much. Ovulation stops upon insemination.

Spotting is normal for many pregnancies

It’s called a break through bleed. It can certainly be mistaken for a period

I’ve never been pregnant nor missed a period, comma, or semicolon. 🤣

No. But it's rare. If there is bleeding, seek medical help

My mom did with my brother. She found out when she was 6 months pregnant and went to the doctors because everyone in the house got sick

I had implantation bleeding for my third pregnancy which scared me because I miscarried my second pregnancy.

Bleeding can be normal but you should get with your doctor.
