If a kid isn't ready to move out when they turn 18, their parents failed. Willing and able to are 2 differnt issues.

If they CAN NOT wait to move out, than their parents failed too. And, the parents' failure would be the parents' fault, not the kids', not the government, not the school system's.

All of the above was posted by someone who didn't move out until he was almost 21, because he joined the U.S. Navy. But, does anyone disagree with any of the above?

So basically the only parents who succeed are those whose kid moves out happily right at 18?馃

I moved out unhappily and very thankfully at 18. My daughter just moved out 2 months ago at 18 but thank goodness she wasn't completely miserable here before she left! These days though many kids live with their parents longer than 18.. I don't know if that means they completely failed though.馃槣@gingershuman:

Well that's mean in my opinion. I would have loved it if my daughter had stuck around for longer and now she is far far away abroad. But I guess that means I succeeded!! I don't think I would ever have it in me to kick my own kid out on the street, however. I still have one to go though so we'll see and knock on wood..@gingershuman:
