Oh yeah, I heard that one more times than I can count. It always blew my mind because even as a kid I remember thinking, “If it hurts you so much, then why are you the one doing it?”
You’re definitely not the only one. I grew up hearing the same things during beatings, and honestly it just made everything more confusing. Looking back, it feels like something people said to make themselves feel better about hurting a child. Been there, and I’m sorry you know exactly what that sounds like.

@unsociableAnthony I think it's a pretty shitty thing to say to a kid. Justifying the pain by taking the moral high ground, letting you know how this is for you. You know what would have been more on point in my instance? Finding my bored ass something to do. that was all I wanted. Just to have someone talk to me like I was a person and find a solution.

@nonsensiclesnail I never yell at my cat no matter what she does, because she is just a cat. It's part of the deal. Just the same I think about having a kid in this way but anyways I have never been a parent.
