I don't know. I have been waiting my entire life to hear my mom say she was sorry for what she did to me...I will never hear this, but if she said something like I had saved her, it would be helpful.. I think how someone would react to hearing something like this depends greatly on what kind of parent(s) they had..🤷♀

My mom occasionally will say something along the being helpful lines... and then at other times she flips to the other edge of saying all the opposite things. I don't know how I would react. With caution.
