To those with kind or loving parents

Were they mostly focused on encouraging you, and focusing on the good traits you had, over flaws?

If so did it help you gain esteem as an adult and view yourself positively?

Lots of encouragement in everything we did or wanted to do. Focused on our good traits and with our flaws we were accepted the way we were/are. I know it helped with my self esteem and self positivity. When I said negative things about myself growing up my mom was always turning it into a positive way to look at it.

@Jenny1234 That's a great template to model for children..ty for sharing🌺. I'm trying to do what they call Reparent yourself but Bec I think so low of myself it's hard to know what to do. So you also would say there wasn't a lot of ridicule, monitoring, or degrading? I appreciate your feedback 🌸🦋

Sadly no, I never had any encouragement whatsoever. As a result my self esteem took a big hit.
I'm ok now though. My husband helped me immensely.

@Coralmist don't be scared you just have to take the plunge and go for it. The right guy will find you. 🤍

Always encouraging, yes. But also pushing to try new and various things. And pushing for me to find my limits (and usually to push through them).
We were taught to be kind
