Gotta love a core memory

I'm in the car with my 18 year old son and Wrecking Ball comes on the radio. He chuckles and shares a "core memory" of this song. He was 9 or 10 and at a sleepover at his friend's house. At some point, the friends watch the video for Wrecking Ball - the friend being explicitly forbidden by his mother to do so. The friend later got punished for it.

I was like - wait. He got punished for watching a music video? Wait. What?

We pull up the video. Miley's riding a wrecking ball, at times naked, at times in a tank top and undies. At no point do we see any reproductive bits of course, but it's provocative. Sure.

I wasn't there and I don't know what discussions she had with her son when punishing him. But did this woman think she was protecting her son from online porn? If you ask me, punishing a young boy for looking at a woman's body is a good way to create a life-long pervert.

What do you think?

For your son's friend to be forbidden to watch the video would tell me that his mom already saw the video for 'Wrecking Ball' while not in his presence, otherwise how would she know enough about the video to keep it censored from her son's personal growth?

I wonder if she turned off the video the moment she saw Miley riding that wrecking ball in her underwear so as to keep her mind pure and untainted?
