Why is my daughter so scared?

eryone in my family love dogs. But when we go over to my brothers house, my now 6 year old little girl gets scared out of her mind. My brother has a 260 pound English mastiff, the dog is really sweet. But for some reason my little girl doesn’t want to be anywhere near the dog. From day one, she has just been terrified of the dog, she was really hesitant to meet the dog the first time, she did it. But then I noticed that she was afraid.

why is this? We have a border collie at home and they get along and play together just fine. When my brothers dog starts barking or stands up, or just walks near her, my daughter will run to me wanting to be picked up. She doesn’t even want to be in the same room as the dog, even when I’m holding her In my arms, she doesn’t want me to go anywhere near him.

of course I respect my daughter and I make sure she feels safe. But why is she like this?

My brothers dog has done nothing wrong. Why is she acting so scared of him? Like I said we have a border collie at home and they play together.

, is my kiddo doing this on purpose because she wants attention? Why is she acting this way? Because I know she loves animals. And again both dogs were introduced to the exact same way, and the border collie is also bigger and much stronger than my daughter, she has to look up a tad to see eye to eye with the collie. Both dogs have identical temperament. They are the exact same. Yeah she’s scared of the mastiff but not the collie.
Same exact question, over 2 years later. I’m calling it…….

But you're not really a new parent if this story was repeated two years ago tho. What's your aim?
@SatanBurger My guess is that they get off on talking about children and try to steer people in that direction. There have been several here lately, seeking “advice.”

Why did you repeat this same story two years later? You only changed the title. I'm just asking, that's all

Why put your daughter through hell near an 18stone dog
ImaNEWparent · 36-40, M
@Jimbo7 but that’s exactly my question, she is “going through hell” around the English mastiff but not the border collie…

Are the coolie and mastiff friends?
ImaNEWparent · 36-40, M
@WandererTony yes. They play a lot together actually
WandererTony · 56-60, M
@ImaNEWparent she has some association perhaps with some picture books with similar dog or similar eyes.
Or he has growled at her sometime.
Something unpleasant surely.
Keep her close to you and please giver her confidence.
The 2 breeds are very different in looks as well as behavior. A coolie has a natural look loke a human smile. A mastiff looks like frowning. My views of course.
Interested to know how it goes. Only request, dont push the child. Let her be happy and let her feel safe.

You cannot possibly be serious. Are you telling me you do not see the difference between a fluffy, friendly collie and a big old scary bullmastiff? And that you're so clueless you've posted this same question every two years on this forum? Got a bridge to sell me while you're at it?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@ImaNEWparent You cannot possibly be this stuріԁ. Nobody is. You've got to be posting this story for some other reason. Any іԁіоt can tell the difference between an 80 lb collie and a 260 lb mastiff.

Unless you've got massive brain damage.
ImaNEWparent · 36-40, M
@LordShadowfire i’m sorry. You don’t have to be rude about it. I just don’t see what there is to be scared regarding the mastiff over the border collie? Both dogs bark, both dogs are bigger/stronger than my daughter, both dogs were introduced the same way and have very very similar temperament, , etc.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@ImaNEWparent I'm done trying to explain the difference. If you don't grasp that one dog is three times the size of the other and scary as hell to a little tiny person, I don't know what else to tell you. You're either trolling, clueless, or I don't know, somehow getting off on this. Good night.
