Help find the right age-appropriate clothes?

My daughter Clara has six years old and 1’5” tall at 18 pounds. She has Primordial dwarfism. Shopping for clothes that Clara can wear has been a huge struggle. We’re trying to find inappropriate clothes for her, but the only clothes that fit Clara are meant for newborns or very young toddlers. It depends on the brand but right now Clara still fits in is between newborn and eight months. And for shoes she is in a size 2 and 3 in infant/toddlers depending on the shoe. Even some newborn clothes don’t fit her right because she isn’t “chubby” like a newborn baby is, she is “thinned out” like your typical six-year-old child except smaller than a newborn baby.

It’s hard to find clothes that fit her that are also age-appropriate for six years old, and for shoes we haven’t really found any that are small enough for her while also being meant to really walk around in. The shoes that fit her are men for babies and toddlers who aren’t walking around quite yet.

Would you have any suggestions on how we could find clothing for that would be more age-appropriate?

@Penny would you have any suggestions for shoes given Clara’s age and newborn shoes she’s wearing now for walking

@Clarashelper maybe you could get some custom made moccasin type shoes made for her ? they do make baby sneakers that look pretty comfy and sandals too. maybe doll shoe moccasins? baby shoes might not be the right proportion.

@Penny we actually just bought her some newborn shoes. The problem that we have had is that shoes for newborn babies art men for walking in. And the shoes that are meant for walking for toddlers who are just learning to walk for the first time. And they’re not really meant to walk outside or for very long. I’m sure doll shoes aren’t meant to be worn by actual people so I don’t know if they would hold up.

But yes your suggestion of making her custom made shoes just for her size would work probably. That way we could make them age-appropriate and a little tougher than newborn shoes.

@Clarashelper thats why i suggested moccasin type shoes. theyre essentially like leather slippers. cant hurt to look for some doll ones. im always amazed at the quality of some doll clothes and accessories. maybe not fo rwalking miles but for shopping and around the house...

@Penny oh OK thanks for the clarification. I wasn’t quite sure what those were. I’m not sure if Claire would like the idea that she’s wearing doll clothes, she already doesn’t really like the fact that she’s needing to wear a newborn baby clothes. How do you suppose I introduce them?

I know you don’t know her but she’s six years old and she wants to be wearing stuff and doing things that are for six-year-old

@Clarashelper american girl and our generation are a couple brands that make 18 inch doll clothes in some cute styles she might like. would have ot try them on though to see if comfy but probably can return if she doesnt like them or they dont fit.

@Penny how would you go about introducing them though? At some point I’m sure she’ll figure out there Barbie doll clothes but right now should I just tell her that they are or should I say I found some actual clothes?

@Clarashelper just because they are made for dolls shouldnt matter. as long as they are comfy and cute and fit right?
