Second child in 40s

we both are just turned 40, and have a son 10 yrs old. we are really thinking of having second child but our age is making us nervous. we know it will have health impact however more so nervous about society, how would we be treated to be parent again at 40

There is the possibility of Downs Syndrome after 40. The odds are long, but one should be aware of all possible issues.

@Disgustedman There is a slight risk. The risk increases slightly by each year over "prime". You can Google it if you want.

@Jai00123 The dangers are nothing like they were 25 yrs. ago. Talk to a good OB-GYN about this.

@Jai00123 Yes there's more risks in mother's over 40. Providing though mum has her folic acid ( helps prevent spina bifida) and looks after her self, many women go on to have healthy pregnancies and babies.

@Lanie78 Hey ladies listen up, You have to start taking the folic acid before conception. It won't do any good after.

@Nitedoc Yes I agree but it helps whilst the baby is developing in the womb for the first couple of months to.
