Pots and pans, buddy, if you can stand the noise. But don't use spoons. Show him/her how to beat like a drum. A lot less noisy.

Where you been? If they are momentarily throwing a fit or crying, the noise will distract them as you show them, and get their attention focused on that, instead of throwing the fit. @twistermind

@JustaFriend: It's a good idea. I didn't mean the contrary. Sorry, if I didn't explain myself very well.

Sometimes the high chair with a special you or something messy to play in works . Keeps the child and the mess contained. Plus they are high up and if can be placed just so, near you.

Yes, this is what I meant with a chair for kids. He will be safe.

Give them some pots, pans, and a few utensils. The toddler can make noise and pretend to cook with you. It just means a few extra dishes to wash tonight.
Mondayschild · F
give them a big bowl that wont break and a wooden or plastic spoon and put then on a blanket on the floor

Give him or her your cell phone. Lol!
Sit him on a chair for kids and give him his favourite toys. When he drops it, thing he's gonna do for sure, pick them up and there again.
A little of music for kids also help. You can sing with him and dance with him from time to time.

@TheStoriesTruth: You're very welcome.
The true is that you haven't it so easy because distract a one-year-old kid is not easy.
They are a danger with legs. 😂

My one year old won't let anyone hold him long.. When I'm cooking, he's tearing the place apart. Try a high chair with snacks
