i am a chain smoker. how can i quit the habit ?

Peaches · F
My heart goes out to you, it's such a hard habit to break! I stopped smoking in the house but it didn't slow me down much. I was beginning to get sick and had no energy at all. One day I was sitting in my garage smoking. I was crying and asked God to please help me because I couldn't do it on my own. A few weeks later we went to a friends funeral and I fell down the church stairs?! It put me in the hospital just before Christmas last year for a month. I had broken my ankle so badly it was like a balloon, it's full of metal and I'm still walking with a cane. Of course I couldn't smoke in there, so it's been almost a year now since I stopped smoking. I ask friends if they think God sent His angels to push my down the stairs so I could stop smoking?! 🚬 HA! I've heard God answers prayers in funny ways?! 👼 Wishing you the best of luck....don't give up!!!!

Sometimes God has a cruel sense of humor. One would hope there is an easier way to stop than that. I agree...just keep quitting.

Just quit....I know it sounds so easy...it is not. I smoked between a pack and a half and 4 packs a day for 40 years and tried all sorts of things...just quit. It has been over 10 years since my last cigarette.

my wife is sick with non-small cell lung cancer which metastasized to her femur.

it's a living hell.

she is now one year into chemo and has moved onto immunotherapy.

every day is a nightmare and struggle to just stay alive.

If you always smell like smoke, bad gums, bad breath, leather tongue, raspy voice, wrinkled beyond your years, it's too late. Enjoy your smokes ..
Peaches · F
It's NEVER too late.

there is probably very little but if you are earnest i'd say try kwik-nik and other alternatives?
Nimbus · M
Not being able to afford to usually works.

I went from 60-a-day to nil, by reading Allen Carr's Easyway To Stop Smoking, then going to a one-day seminar held by his institute. That was 2005, 12 years ago, and I've never had another.

THat was after trying about 20 times to quit in various other ways.

@firefall: I am 40-45 a day.

the best way to quit is to not quit. Pick one day out of the year that will be your smoking day. That way you never have to contend with the thought that "This is my last cigarette"

I understand it is difficult/replace the bad habit with a good one/maybe?
