When did you first become aware of your parents' mortality?

My parents are in their 60s and I'm well-aware that they're not going to be around forever, but it was really hammered into me last night when my dad had a mild heart attack. It's difficult for me to even imagine life without my parents since they've always been there for my 28 years of existence. But all of my grandparents are deceased so I know the day will come when I have to say goodbye to my mom or dad.

I lost my mom the first of may. She was 91.
As far as their mortality, I lost my dad when I was almost 10. I knew then that life is fragile and can change in one moment.
You will never be prepared.

@Carla I agree. You can't possibly be prepared.

@SW-User all I can tell you is to do what you can to absorb and give as much time and love as is possible. Let nothing important go unsaid. And hugs...lots of hugs.
