Can a 12 year old get depressed?

For the past 4 months I have seen a big change in my daughter ! Shes seems to be depressed. Like can 12 year olds actually be depressed ? What signs should I look for ? I am really worried about her !! Should I take her to see a doctor? Counsellor? I'm so stressed about this .. and when I try to talk to her about this . She snaps at me !! :(

I'm sorry to hear that. I was depressed from time to time at 12 because I was going through a self-identity crisis. Being teased and made fun of in school sure didn't help things.

@silkandlace Middle school and high school were not a very fun time for me 🤷🏽‍♂️.

@SubstantialKick 7th grade to 10th for me, so yes, things brightened after 10th grade, that summer, i made strides in my life for me, felt better, held my head up, its difficult for everyone at that age i believe, in some way
