Does she have autism. Possibly. These are used mostly for special needs children who have a habit of running off. Holding their hands isn't enough.
I see nothing wrong with this. I do grasp that some people would abuse this...but that doesn't make the concept a bad one.

@JaggedLittlePill I agree. I remember having one for busy places and it is a safety thing. She may be autistic or fond of running off

@MrsPeterEvans Indeed. I used to hide in the stores when my mom was shopping. She never used a harness but I am sure I scared her to death a few times.

@JaggedLittlePill yes must be very useful until 7 or 8 or even older

I remember when I was little walking away from my parents to look at something. They were really worried I was taken and after that mom insisted on a harness when we were out in busy places.

@michellew sensible solution. I had a harness and wrist leash

@maggioleah It is a tool for safety not punishment. Children are not animals. Get off the crazy train.

@maggioleah It cannot be both. Period. End of story. Hey chick...I studied Early Childhood Education and psychology..so you can take your anecdotal bs and stuff it where it belongs...in the garbage.

No, my parents always just grabbed me or yelled at me to get back here if I tried to run off.
