I think so. The problem with the world is that the only things that are monetizable are valued. We need to rethink the way we perceive value.
Raising kids and working for charity and helping others are all contributing to society by adding value to it, but you don't get paid for any of it. It's why universal basic income has been an idea economists have been playing around with for several decades now.
We let companies and corporations determine what's valuable and what's not, but they're motivated purely by profit. Profit shouldn't come at the expense of the people

@wildbill83 Who said anything about socialism? Simon Kuznets, a Nobel Prize winning economist, was the guy that formed the idea of GDP, the very metric that we use to measure our economy today. He said that "services of housewives and other members of the family" -direct quote, btw- should be included as part of our national economy.
