How can a smear campaign harm my family?

My husbands daughter has been on a campaign to ruin our family with false allegations and lies to others so she can get attention and get away with bad behavior. I'm wondering if it has the potential to hurt her father and I as well as her younger sibling. The police and Child Protection Services is already aware of it so we are safe in that regard. All that's left is social ruin. Her father and I arent very social to begin with so maybe we wont have any problems. Her little sister still has to go to school though and some of her classmates are the younger siblings of her sisters friends who believe all the lies and their parents believe the lies too. Should I worry? Will lack of networking and an absent social life hurt us much if at all?

Is this just a tissue of lies?

@Wol62
That’s what I’m wondering

@NicoleA Doesn't sound true after the "My husbands daughter" part.

@Wol62 yeah honestly if I were the OP I'd mostly keep an eye on my husband rather than the daughter who allegedly lies, I don't know the context of all this though. But if the police and all got involved it sounds too serious.

@Wol62 would it have been better if I said stepdaughter? Most people already have preconceived notions of what they think a stepparent is like and especially a stepmom. I can't call her my own daughter because I'm not her mom. She has a mom and I believe as does she that the title belongs to her mom alone.

@Wol62 I wish it was a tissue of lies because the only person I have control over is me so if I was telling lies I could get help for myself

@morrgin OK, if you say it's the truth then I believe you.

@HannibalAteMeOut police got involved when her dad wouldnt give her money and so she turned up her tantrum. Instead of her dad walking away like he should he gets sucked into all the false guilt trips she throws at him and other tactics she uses. Then she got violent and tried to make another hole in the wall and next turned on her dad who then restrained her. She then went and told people her dad attacked her. Her grandpa called the authorities and the police and DHS came to investigate.
