Do/did your parents limit your use of eyeglasses or do/would you do that with your kids?

Or what are your thoughts about it? I've heard many stories about this, including from several friends. A lot of times parents just think their kids look better without glasses so they'll take them away or at least encourage kids not to wear them much, especially during certain occasions like weddings. Other times it may be because of financial reasons (they don't want kids to break them or need a new prescription and have to buy new ones). Sometimes it's to benefit kids' health and keep their eyes from becoming dependent on glasses. Do you think this is a good idea to help families? Do you feel that it makes kids better realize the importance of taking care of their eyes?

Would you?

@Fauxmyope2 I probably wouldn't set strict limits about it, but I would encourage them to go without their glasses as much as possible if they happen to wear them; my mom used to tell me not to wear mine all the time.

@matttheman13 Why? Did you appreciate that or resent that?

I'm not sure why; she never really said. I guess she just liked how my face looked naturally better. Or maybe she thought I should try to do my best to see without them or rest my eyes? Anyway, I was indifferent to it at first, but eventually I guess I appreciated it because I did finally pretty much give up wearing glasses and I get a lot of compliments about it now too.

@matttheman13 Compliments for not wearing your glasses or your bare face?

Compliments when I didn't wear my glasses... like when they'd seen me with them before. Such as when I started to go without glasses sometimes in school people would ask if I got contacts and when I said I just wasn't wearing my glasses they'd say that was nice or cute or whatever, but that would be compliments about my bare face too since that's what they were seeing and some people have even explicitly said I look better without glasses.

@matttheman13 I get both. Most like my glasses but some prefer me without.
