Do/did your parents limit your use of eyeglasses or do/would you do that with your kids?

Or what are your thoughts about it? I've heard many stories about this, including from several friends. A lot of times parents just think their kids look better without glasses so they'll take them away or at least encourage kids not to wear them much, especially during certain occasions like weddings. Other times it may be because of financial reasons (they don't want kids to break them or need a new prescription and have to buy new ones). Sometimes it's to benefit kids' health and keep their eyes from becoming dependent on glasses. Do you think this is a good idea to help families? Do you feel that it makes kids better realize the importance of taking care of their eyes?

Explain the logic of that attitude? Would stopping a child from wearing a hearing aid if needed improve their hearing? 🙄

@HerKing I think it also kinda goes with preventing new prescriptions. If you don't change their eyesight much, their needs shouldn't change much either. And hearing aids are a bit different from glasses, usually not given as readily. It's quite a bit easier to function with blurry vision than hearing impairment too.
