I go to places we had special moments together or do things we enjoyed doing. Sometimes a piece of music we loved helps, sometimes imaging a quirk or expression brings back memories.

I have my photographs of my parents on my wall. They both lived to their nineties and I took care of them both. I miss my mother who was always there to listen to me. I miss my dad for his sense of humour. I find comfort in the fact that some of their qualities are in me and sometimes I might say or do something and it would dawn on me that it was either my mum or dad that is in part of my personality. So really, they are still with me in this way.

1. To honor them, to honor them, by being the best you can be for you.

(My dad passed away when I was 9yo.)

I don't stay stuck in the past, that was then. We all move on with life, we leave the nest, to establish our own life, our own place.

Build up your worth of self, then be your own anchor, your own inner light. You can be happy, don't be sad that they left, try not to be placed in the past, thinking on "what if' ......please don't stay stuck on the past sadness.

Be you
Be you....and shine for you...

My Dad died in January and Old Spice aftershave reminds me of him. It's not the nicest aftershave in the world but it's all we could afford to buy him when we were kids and bless him, he always used it.
It became a bit of a running joke because we'd always buy him a set for Christmas - he hadn't even opened the set I got him last Christmas so I still have that to remind me of him.

I am very sorry for your losses. My parents are alive but are serving overseas in the navy, so I will not see them again until March. I have an old shirt of my dad's which I used to wear as pyjamas, but now I just sort of cuddle up with it when I am feeling lonely. I have photos around my bed of us as a family and loads more photos in an envelope which I look at most days.

Nothing.

Sometimes I tried to make some friends so they could distract me if I felt awful
