Question for those who get into relationships with someone with a child:

So, I don't know if I'm just overthinking this or not. But do you refer to the child as your own? Or your step child?

I feel like referring to them as your step child is too impersonal after you've already formed a bond with them, but I don't want to refer to them as my child because I just don't want to answer all the questions that come along with it. I don't want to explain that actually they're not my blood child when just referring to them as a step child answers all those questions.

Am I overthinking this? Lol

Zeeeero! Welcome back. :D

Hmmm. Do you feel like you're their mother? If you feel like you're their mother, then call them your kids. If you feel like a step-mother, call them your step-kids. *shrug* Didn't put much thought into it, but seems legit. Step-kids or no, you can express the bond is deeper in other ways, and it might avoid more confusion?

Btw, I just stabbed you in the kneecap. I win again, and you never saw it coming. :D
