Question for those who get into relationships with someone with a child:

So, I don't know if I'm just overthinking this or not. But do you refer to the child as your own? Or your step child?

I feel like referring to them as your step child is too impersonal after you've already formed a bond with them, but I don't want to refer to them as my child because I just don't want to answer all the questions that come along with it. I don't want to explain that actually they're not my blood child when just referring to them as a step child answers all those questions.

Am I overthinking this? Lol

This Likely depends on the relationship you have with the child as well as the relationship you have with the child's parent. It could also be affected by the child's relationship with the other parent.

@alabamasj Yea, the mother isn't in the picture at all, and we've already gotten super close with each other. We tell each other we love one another and I treat her like she was my own daughter.
