My oldest son was freaking out last night because he found a small lump under his chest skin.... he’s freaking out and asking if it could be cancer...

I think my poor health (which isn’t cancer) has my poor kid on the fence about every thing medically with himself. No - he isn’t a hypochondriac- it just when something is out of place he worries about what it could possibly be.

I made an apt with his pediatrician because he needs to relax and sleep... what ever that little lump is hopefully it can be dissolved or removed without a problem.

Any suggestions on what I can tell him in the meantime so he stops freaking out?

We are much in the same boat, only with older children who are at the age when these things crop up. The only saving grace is that we were medical professionals who have seen a lot. My guess is maybe a clogged pore or a swollen gland. Although it happens I would say to him that major problems don't show up until later in life.
