I'm neural on this. I know some get it done at birth, some get it done later in life and some never have it done at all.

In my family it all depends on if a boy is born in a hospital and if insurance covers medical circumcision. My brother had it done but I didn't. As for looking different I don't see any issues.

@Alabamarednek What you write is consistent with what I have long suspected. In the USA, maternity wards "push" the circumcision of newborn boys. This was very strong during the second half of last century, less so this century. Having the cost covered by health insurance or Medicaid also makes circumcision more likely.
We don't agree on looks. I am a baby boomer who grew up about a day's drive north of Alabama. Until I went to work in a steel mill with older men, I saw only 5-6 elephant trunk dicks in locker rooms. Also, the rough talk among men and boys never mentioned circumcision and foreskin. The only dudes who joked about that were the Jewish dudes I knew in college. If the reality is that almost every male is circumcised, and nobody talks about that fact, the upshot is that the uncut dick looks very weird. American parents fear that if they don't circumcise their sons, they will be ridiculed in the locker room and rejected by the women they try to date. Cosmetic conformity is in the driver's seat.

Consa01 In all my life I only heard 1 comment and it wasn't even in a locker room or a boy who said it. I was sitting down wearing shorts which were loose, short with wide gaping legs. I was on a playground playing at around 8 when a girl thought it looked like a stitch on the tip.

At that age none of us had any idea what circumcision was and some of us didn't wear underwear.

@Alabamarednek The opinions of virgin women upon seeing foreskin for the first time, are harmless. They don't have a well formed idea of what the tip of the penis "should" look like. The reactions to seeing foreskin by an American woman who has had multiple sexual partners, all circumcised, can be very adverse.
