I hope somehow it changes. Have you tried just straight up asking her why she does it, and if she understands how it makes you feel? Ask if that's how she's trying to make you feel? Ask if she cares that it's how she makes you feel?

I really hope you can find a way to fix it but like you say she might be too old and past that possibility.I really hope it gets better again.
@KatieAus only a million times throughout various times in my life ...it doesn't matter anymore ...it is what it is ...a leopard never changes their spots ...I accept it and make the best of it ...

@DystopianDivalry Understandable. Sometimes I guess that's the only thing left. Hugs, if you want them x.

Sometimes it's okay to sever ties if it's too painful. You don't need that crap in your life
@EldritchFox I had for 7 years . When I was pregnant with my son we slowly reconnected then as time when on it changed again as things tend to do ..
She's in her 80's now and feel that who knows how long she has left and it just keeps going back how will I feel when she finally dies

Sometimes the wounds (especially those inflicted over long periods), are so deep one simply can't.
@Ontheroad You have no idea

@DystopianDivalry you are right, I don't, but I've seen the damage over and over, so I get where you are coming from and how you got where you are.
@Ontheroad Thank you for your kind words
