Parental loss

Today is 15 years since my mother died

For some reason, I am especially saddened; more so than in previous years.

I am reminded of all the losses suffered in the past year.

Time for a long walk in the frozen woods.

Did the walk help? I was absolutely exhausted emotionally and spiritually when my brother told me that our parents had been killed in the first weeks of Russia’s illegal war as they sought to capture Kyiv. It took months for me to understand that they were still showing me their love in trying to come and surprise me at university instead of being at home and safe in the mountains
