Something you can laugh at now but was devastating when it happened...

My mother dressed me in white friggin' sandals for my first day in grade one.

Have you experienced anything close to that on the humiliation scale?

Aside from - what seemed like - EVERY KID in class pointing and laughing in utter disbelief, at least the teacher didn't join in.

I have no idea why she made me wear them. All I remember about the whole mess was I pleaded with her not to send me out wearing them... but she insisted on it. I also had to take piano lessons (for 10 years) although I had zero talent or interest in doing so. The less said about the acting classes I had to take the better...

I found out much later that my 4 older sisters all took lessons of some kind. Only one of us had any talent: my oldest sister had an operatic voice.

@rinkydinkydoink Piano is nice to know but forcing it is a waste of time and money.
