I visited my best friend this weekend…

At one point my friend’s son showed me a photo that he took one of the times when they and her mother had driven down to visit me at my parents’ house. In the picture, me, my best friend and our mothers were sitting together, and we were all laughing, probably at a joke her mother had told. The picture was framed and on a shelf.

For those who don’t know, I lost my mother last year, and my friend lost her mother the very next month, so we’ve been leaning on each other while navigating this journey.

My friend was looking at the photograph, and she, who never breaks down, began to cry. Her son and I rushed over to her and held her.
Eventually she shooed us away and wiped her eyes (and I wiped mine). "This is just so hard, " she said. 😞

It may sound strange but there are not many photos of my Mom and Dad but the memories are there, the all weekend barbecues where anyone who wandered in took a plate..the brother coming home from Uni and being picked up by his buddy (who was my Moms 9th fourth son)

I remember my aunt talking to me about how even if she could spend one day with her mother (my grandmother ) she would refuse it because the end would be so painful. That was twenty years after my grand mothers death
I dream of them all frequently and I only know we will meet again and until than there are the memories
