We decided to not have a dinning room

Our kitchen has a very nice island with a sink and seating for 6 around it. So we decided for now we are not going to have a dinning room with a table in it. We turned that area into a sensory room. Just felt we would get much more use out of the room doing that. Our daughter loves the room already. It will be a prefect place for her or any of us to go to relax, regroup and just calm down.

Our kitchen has a bar as well. For meals everyone just sits around the bar. We have a small "Breakfast nook" type of area off to the side that rarely (if ever) gets used for eating.

Our "dining room" hasn't had a table in it since I cannot remember......

When we have the fam over we just break out the folding table and chairs from the storage closet.

Dining tables are way over-rated and just collect dust and junk....... We enjoy the open space instead...........

@Threepio yeah this will meet our family needs and my needs so much better.
Sounds like a brillant idea.

Dining rooms are over rated, rarely used and just end up project tables ...or where the laundry lives😅

Having a quiet space to nestle down and chill to your own tune is IDEAL.

I think youve made a really wise, independent, acutely observational choice for your family.

Hell, everyone could do with a sensory room🤗

@OogieBoogie thank you, you are so sweet. This made so much more sense and we will definitely be using this way more
formal dining rooms are a thing of the past but call me old fashioned. I love my dining room with a china cabinet with my dinnerware on display

@saragoodtimes formal dining rooms are a really bad trigger for me so we just decided to not have one. It's not worth the issues they cause me right now. Maybe someday I can over come it
@Cigarguy101 we host family for holiday dinner so our dining room is functional a few times a year
