My mom once told me she actually gets impressed when people stand up to her

She’s a very stern and very intimidating woman. She’s nice most of the time, but she’s not one you want to get cross with. I should know. 😅 Anyway, I always figured she’d be the kind who doesn’t take kindly when people clap back at her, but she says she actually admires them for it. Because she’s so bad-ass, everyone’s always afraid of her that when they show they’re not scared of her, it leaves an impression on her. 😯 Which is pretty bad-ass within itself, lol.

I'm pretty much the same.

My mum is pretty intimidating to a lot of people. She does have a few chips on her shoulder, which she's aware of, but she'll stare anyone down. Doesn't suffer fools at all...

But if people stand up to her - and I've heard more than one person say 'Martika, you are talking shit, girl!' - she will respect that. Maybe not at the time - LOL! - but she will, eventually.
