Mum - My Role Model

I was given the task of speaking on the topic of role models in peoples lives.

Its a no Brainer that my Mum is my choice any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I came up with this poem for her in 20 minutes.
I got a standing ovation and an award. And I didn't know Mum was in the crowd also.

Poem

I belong at your feet
But u placed me in your heart
The way you moulded my life
Is a beautiful work of art

You do and sacrifice so much
And ask for so little
You are my strength
When I'm weak and brittle

You are the definition
Of a Mothers Love
And definitely a gift
From the Man Above

Cos all the riches and treasure
Are equal to none
To the Honour and Blessing
Of me being called Your Son

@Kae20 she can be a mum to anyone but the Privilege was given to me by God. She may think she's lucky but it all her teachings and upbringing that molded me into what I am 🌹🌹

That is an amazing poem.

I can only speak for myself because I have seen so many other examples that are nothing like mine.
I can only wish, as a father, that I can have this kind of impact on my children.
I live in constant fear of being a failure as a father in their eyes.
I hope I am both a good and a bad example of how to live life appropriately so as to avoid the many pitfalls life holds for them.
A good example for how my life has transformed from one extreme to the next for the positive.
A good bad example for all of the experiences I suffered while I was a confused man searching for some kind of meaning in all the wrong places in all the wrong ways.
No one could have ever told me that the meaning I was looking for would be my place in the life of my children.

This was very heartfelt and thoughtful of you to share with everyone.
Not only are you very lucky to have a mother for you to model yourself after because of the respect you hold for her but she too is lucky to have an appreciative and aware child.

Jus remember something, everyone makes mistakes and everyone has different hurdles and challenges in life.

A good percentage of people, even your own kids may not be able to pull through what u went through or going through. So don't sell yourself short.

U are valuable in your own way and will be appreciated accordingly. I only hope that your kids realize this soon cos your absence should not be the way for them to understand. But even if it's for a few moments but if they appreciate you in your presence then that itself is a victory for you, if not then it's a lesson to them.

U are doing an amazing job and don't let anyone tell u otherwise
