At what point did you realize that your parents, although well-meaning, are not equipped to advise you?
When I was in college, I realized my parents couldn't advise me on most matters. Their advice on homeownership, income properties, savings, stocks, education, marriage, and even family planning had to be quietly disregarded. I feel bad saying this, but their advice has been so short-sighted and naive because the general tenor is "it'll work out; or, God will take care of it" when i'm trying to carefully plan things and take calculated risks.
