Trying to find a new normal
Tomorrow, the kids will be going back to school. Buddy and I will both be working from home, just in case tomorrow becomes too much for them or they realize they aren't quite ready yet.
They all say they're ready to go back, and maybe they are. But this is going to be a hard week, and we want to be close enough to get to them if they start feeling overwhelmed, sad, or simply need to come home.
As for me, I've got the flu and honestly feel miserable, but I'm going to power through the best I can. Right now, being available for them is what matters most.
I know going back to school doesn't mean everything suddenly goes back to normal. Their world has changed, and they're still learning how to carry something this heavy. So tomorrow, we're taking it one moment at a time. If they make it through the whole day, wonderful. If they need us after an hour, we'll be there.
They don't have to be strong all the time. They just need to know we're close.
