New routine for Saturdays?

For the past two years and more my Saturday morning routine has consisted of taking our daughter to the gym and holding bags and watching from the sidelines while she does an hour of judo followed by two hours of gymnastics. In the early days of fostering this gave me time to get to know her better and bond more strongly. Later, after we had completed her adoption and moved within walking distance of the gym, she still insisted on me coming every Saturday, even though hardly any of her team mates now have their parents watching 🙂

So yesterday the coach had all the girls gathered round at the end of the session for debriefing and notices . . and a special announcement that our daughter and another girl had been promoted to the senior gymnastics squad 😊 She bounded over to me with a huge smile all over her face. Not a word (very rare), but a lovely snuggle from my slightly sweaty favourite gymnast 😅 As if to say, "This is why I needed you to come and watch me all those Saturdays, Mum" 🤗

And I would do it all again ten times just for one minute of unbridled happiness from a super girl who drew one of life's shortest straws. I don't quite know what my future role in her gymnastics journey will be, if any, but so grateful that yesterday I was in the right place at the right time!

I do not think I have seen any of those. But I have heard that "Under the Sea" song.

One animated movie I liked from a few years ago was WALL-E. Pixar makes good stuff.

I do not like what Disney did with Star Wars, except Rogue One was good. Of course, it is adult themed, and quite dark at times. War is horrible. Vader is evil! And that Death Star! Watch out!

I spend a lot of time these days watching YouTubes, of math and science lectures, politics (like people winning court cases against Trump!), and cat rescue, feeding squirrels, history, etc.

I bet there is a lot of behind the scenes Disney stuff.

@JoyfulSilence My 15 year old daughter and my husband both LOVE Star Wars but Star Wars is a little too scary for me! 🙈🙈🙈 I prefer kids animated movies/shows! 💙💙💙

@MommyLucy

Yes, Star Wars is dark at times. And it is about war. Even the stormtroopers have grieving families. When the Death Star blew up, I bet it felt like 9-11 to half the Galaxy.

They made some Star Wars cartoons I thought often were better than the live action movies.

When it comes to cartoons, I prefer serious themes. It is just another way to present them, other than live action. Yet with computer graphics, even the live action stuff is full of "cartoons".

The mainstream cartoons are geared more toward children. I like some humor but I find the silliness and singing a little annoying, LOL!

And just once, I'd like to see a cartoon full of just happiness, with no conflict or villains. Perhaps that would be too boring, however. People love drama!
