Update on my last post

So I asked my daughter how her day went. It was a test to see if something really happened at school.

I got my answer

She said in English class the teacher split kids in groups of 3 to write a short story together. The two girls in her group loved her hair and asked her who did it

My daughter told them she did it herself. She learned from me years ago. They asked her if she could teach them. She agreed. They ended up doing their short story on how to French braid hair.

It seems the teacher wasn't pleased because they didn't write a fantacy story but a how too leason.

So that was the big issue. 3 girls writing a short story on how to French braid hair without help.

I'm so mad. My daughter is shy quite and this is one of the few times she's told me about talking to other students at school.
Lucky she has no idea the teacher emailed me. She was very proud of the story they wrote and that she helped two friends. She's never used the word friend about anyone except Star.

I can't wait to meet with the teacher tomorrow.

This teacher is giving themselves lots of negative attention. Let's hope it's not a habit of theirs. If I was the teacher I wouldn't give a rat crap if they wrote about braids. Who cares? It's still in English and they had fun and practiced team work. That's what matters.

Find out what the curriculum is for the class and if there's any problems with her doing assignments. Ask how she's doing with her social skills in class. Sometimes it's the teacher who needs a reminder on what the goals are for students.
Using something that's applicable now sounds like a good thing, but it wasn't what the teacher asked for. There might be times when she needs to pick something else, like a fantasy story, like the teacher assigned, but seems like both are important.

@HannahSky the assignment was to write a 5-10 paper short story, that's it. There was no topic requirement or anything. It just had to be 5-10 pages with a beginning middle and a good ending. That's what they did. But the big issue is how did this story lead to her emailing me saying my daughters hair needs to cut.
