Big responsibility for a kid
My 4-year-old nephew is going to be the ring bearer in my oldest nephew’s (military police officer) wedding. The mother of the bride got him a gift. It’s a little briefcase with the words “Head of Security” on it. Cute. It has a pair of sunglasses, a fake earpiece, and a plastic badge inside.
“Do you like it?” my older sister asked him.
He was quiet for a minute, then shouted, “I’m just a kid! I can’t be a police!”
Cracks me up. He was genuinely horrified that we were gonna throw him into the real job at his age. We explained that it was just for pretend, so now he’s going around showing everyone but assuring them that it’s okay because he’s only a pretend police officer.
