Adolescence was such an insightful series

We don’t have kids so we don’t have to worry about this generation of little weirdos (well in some respect we do, but we’re not directly responsible for a child) but I hope a lot of parents watch that and have a good takeaway of information from it. I find it sad that some parents seem to have lost that stream of communication with their kids. Just because they sit in their rooms all day on the internet and parents feel they can’t or don’t know how to intervene or even when they need to. Having that open communication with them. Talking about the challenges they face and how they are feeling and allowing them to discuss things that make them and you uncomfortable. IMO it’s brave for anyone to have a child during these times, and makes me wonder if people choosing to be parents actually have the capacity (and the time) to deal with the situations they face in this modern world.

I’m not a parent, but the thought of raising a child terrifies me. The series was great at showing the impact it has on the family, almost like their lives are ruined. All they ever saw was their little boy. Also the social media aspect, there needs to be some strict monitoring of children on it, if they should even be allowed at all, in my opinion.

@DHggmu I think we’re beyond the point of stopping these kids from accessing this stuff, so now the concentration has to be about educating them to rights and wrongs (much as we were to our social situations during our childhoods) and teaching them accountability for their actions. I think burying head in sand and hoping for the best is completely ignorant and foolish. And I agree with you, i would also feel terrified to bring up a child now
