I Am a Mother

I don't know why I try being nice and sweet with my son, I know for a fact he won't come out of his room or even respond to my calls until I'm screaming like a psycho from the kitchen for him to come eat. 馃檮

I really just don't get this. Sitting at the dinner table was never optional when I grew up. It damn sure wasn't optional for my boys.

@Peterbilt1955 Back in the day parents could beat the whatsey out of you and slap you silly if you behaved badly or ignored them. Nowadays parents who touch their kids go to jail for child abuse. The child takes out his $600 smart phone and dials 911.
@4meAndyou I never laid a hand on my kids. I didnt need to. My Dad was quick with his belt and I swore I would never hit my kids like that.
Discipline starts in diapers. The oldest got his diapered butt swatted jn the bathroom. I stomped my foot and slapped the top of the commode with my hand at the same time.
After that all I ever had to say was "You need to go to the bathroom? He told his brothers you dont want to go to the bathroom.

@Peterbilt1955 LOLOL!!! Yes, threats certainly work. I was the same as you...swore I would never hit my child because I was hit so often. Apparently I was not a great disciplinarian. :(
None of us were perfect at parenting, and what works for one is not a blueprint for others. There are a few good suggestions here though.
