My Dad : A Short Piece
Dad was always the stable one. Still is. He's the consistent one.
From the off he was always more than just a parent; He was a playmate, a teacher and a motivator.
Education was always a big thing, growing up, and I think dad's legal profession training and his ways of pitching information and instructions at the right levels for the right people certainly helped me. My big sister being the brains, in comparison to me, and I had to work hard.
So, he taught me relevant information for exams in ways that I could understand. He helped me get the grades that I did.
But he's fun too. We shared an interest in movies and television. He's a great advocate of the outdoors too. We had a lot of laughs, growing up.
We'd go on long family walks together, when the weather was good.
I left home a few years ago now, but live nearby still. We see each other weekly and I know he's only a phone call away.
