However, someone who has experienced abandonment might have a higher probability of being exposed to the other negative experiences that has been found to increase likelihood of NPD or narcissistic personality traits.

Without a doubt. Attachment theory isn't a proven science, but there is ample data from clinical psychologists that the relationship we have with our caregivers and the traumas we inherit from them are foundational to the type of people we become later in life.
