Daddy’s Belt?

What does those words mean to you? Let me reword this a bit. What did those words mean to you growing up?
It reminds me of a man who didnt know how to be a father and was so removed from processing any feeling, that all he knew was to hurt and punish others for his own emotional ineptitude.

To the point he enjoyed it.

He got off on others suffering.

Amd it reminds me of the time i finally shut down so completely, i laughed at him while he did it.

Makes me think you shouldn't be a father ?
RepublicanDad · 31-35, M
@HellsBelle never said it referred to me. More like a childhood hypothetical question of being a 90s kid or perhaps earlier then that.
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
@RepublicanDad You asked what the words meant to me. I answered.
Some ppl never heard the sound of worn letter been dragged thru the belt loops of a pair of wranglers… and it shows
Reminds me of this serious reference on the effects of corporal punishment: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3447048/

Even with these controls, physical punishment between the ages of six and nine years predicted higher levels of antisocial behaviour two years later. Subsequent prospective studies yielded similar results, whether they controlled for parental age, child age, race and family structure; poverty, child age, ...

Physical punishment is associated with a range of mental health problems in children, youth and adults, including depression, unhappiness, anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, use of drugs and alcohol, and general psychological maladjustment.

... no study has found physical punishment to have a long-term positive effect, and most studies have found negative effects.

@MsSwan someone had a nice childhood...
@SW-User I got hit with the belt, but that was a long time ago, and it doesn't bother me. Besides, I was a brat and probably deserved it. 😂
@MsSwan It does seem to me that those words (Daddy's belt) would stir up some memories.
