Our daughters decided to sleep in the same room on Christmas Eve

Which created a small logisitical challenge for Father Christmas 🎅

The man of the moment was stumbling around in the dark trying to find somewhere safe to leave the girls' stockings. The 15 year old woke, whispered "is that a cat?", and shone a torch before she got her bearings, thankfully not waking her little sister 😸

Christmas morning started shortly after 5am 🤦‍♀ The 9 year old would have been perfectly happy to sleep in had big sister allowed it. Patter of feet in the kitchen at 6am, followed by the 15 year old bringing us coffee in bed and a briefing on the vegetable prep she had done for lunch 👍

Long walk in the winter sun to burn off some excess energy, followed by an excellent meal (a team effort to which every family member contributed) and lots of games in the afternoon. Girls unsurprisingly started to flag as darkness fell, providing the perfect opportunity to try out the new colour-coordinated bath towels, dressing gowns and slippers that Father Christmas had brought them.

Both were sound asleep by 8pm. Leaving us with a blissfully quiet couple of hours to polish off Santa's Christmas haul 🥂
