What's one thing your parents did that you would never do to your children?

For the brief time I had my son, I never hit him. I was the first child, and my parents "parented" me the way they had been initially, with corporal punishment, but they stopped. My middle sister and I got the brunt of it; our brother and youngest sister, not so much.

During her last illness, our mother actually apologized for ever having spanked us. Once she knew better, she did better.
