Dad's did you have trouble getting your baby to stop crying???

PfuzylogicM
When my Son was born he started crying when they laid him on the hospital bed. I said his name and he stopped crying immediately and looked in my direction out of curiosity. I attribute that to him hearing my voice when I spoke to his Mom.

@Pfuzylogic That's cool. I think babies know more than we think...
PfuzylogicM
@Matt85 Indtinctual adapting to the new environment. His birth was natural and an exhausting 11 hour delivery process. What he went through would have killed other babies.

@Pfuzylogic Born surviver!

Not a dad, but I helped raise my niece from birth until the age of 5.

I had never seen a kid before that just... didn't get tired of crying. She would throw a fit for an hour and a half, just sitting on the floor bawling.

After that, I'd go in and ask her if she was okay and she'd kind of sniffle at me and say yes and then we'd be okay from there haha,

She's 11 now. Makes me feel so old. 馃槀

@thepreposterouspanda awww that's nice you got to do that! 馃グ

@Notsimilarreally Yeah, it was a really special time for sure! :3 Also a really difficult time thanks to some other family stuff and my own health being off the rails, but I guess that just kept it interesting haha.
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@thepreposterouspanda oh totally understandable. At least you were able to do it with all that other crap on your plate. That's awesome

They eventually stop...
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@JovialMoose definitely! This one loves bouncing and swaying in the arms. He won't settle for dad like he does me though and sometimes dad doesn't try hard enough imo before he continues watching football and letting the babe scream 馃槶 so I'm like a little curious of other dad's experiences and habits

@Notsimilarreally Did I bat 100%? Probably not. Maybe I relied on the chair a bit more than I should have.

But it is a game of patience...

Some people are great with babies... others do well at other stages.
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@JovialMoose exactly. Patience is key

yep most certainly did. No matter what i did, I could never get him to stop crying when he was crying. Only his mother could do that.
I would told by the midwife we had that babies are very good at picking up stress. I dont know how true that was but I was overly stressed during that time and the lack of sleep and at work a lot made me feel like i wasnt making a connection with my child.
i can say now, it gets much much easier no matter how hard you find it being at first.

I spent a lot of hours in the middle of the night trying to get my daughter to sleep. I remember one night when she would stop crying if I was standing up and start again when I sat down.

@Notsimilarreally That's interesting.
I thought she was just being awkward lol
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@SW-User nope I looked it up, or came across an article, I forget. But it was just a few days ago. No one told me, I was not informed pre baby having lol 馃槅

@Notsimilarreally A drive in the car always worked, or fast walk in the buggy.

Babies want their Mama 馃枻
Sometimes they just want mom more than dad at that age. So yes.

@Sojournersoul seems to be true
@Notsimilarreally Mom get him settled?

No, he was a pretty easy happy baby. @Notsimilarreally
Notsimilarreally31-35, F
@Spoiledbrat I consider myn to be too, he doesn't cry a whole lot. He's quiet and happy. But when he does have a fit it's usually with dad then he instantly stops for me 馃槶

Depends on what counts as trouble. Being up half the night a few dozen times walking back and forth with a baby is trouble for some and just part of having children to others. I had my fair share of it I think (three times), it was no trouble.
