Ones that don't need a screen or batteries have kept their interest for years and actually make them go outside and play?
Years ago I bought this Blu track for my boys to race their cars on. I love how it just rolls up to pack away super quick and it's been great and has literally been dragged through mud, back and forth to various places, buried in sand on the beach, left in the garden, hosed down and it's still going strong!
The one we have is the original Blu track but in the UK there is also speed track so I think I will be getting that for my nephew's children as it's a bit cheaper here.

@Patientlywaiting definitely not lol. I think Barbie is a great role model. I love all the movies too. I even have the 12 dancing princesses dolls from one of the movies.
