Is having children only an option for the rich now?

The cost of raising a child is too much for most people. Yes, accidents happen and bad judgement often occurs but the resulting children have little hope unless communities support them and even that is becoming difficult as resources dwindle, childcare costs rise, wars rage, and the population ages. I do not expect to ever be a grand parent.
