@OggggO It's of magnitude because, primarily, evangelical christians have made it their new point of attack. They're not happy unless others are oppressed. Because, you know, 'freedom' and "god is love" and blah blah blah.

What does this have to do with religious belief? @Ynotisay this is about changing basic human physiology in ways that are difficult to recover from, to put back in place if one has a change of heart. Their lives are completely changed by doctors, and did they truly consent or just think “yes, this is what i want!”
They are only children.

@nonsensiclesnail What did I say? I said evangelical christians, primarily, have made transgender people targets. That's true. As have the "patriots." Some need enemies to exist. And there's not many easier targets. It feeds their insecurities and desire to oppress and causes enormous harm to others.

BTW...just so you know, there's no hormonal differences among prepubertal children. If a child receives hormone blockers it's reversible when they reach puberty. Surgeries aren't done on children. The medical evidence to the benefits of gender care is rock solid. And there's a whole lot of testing and counseling done before any gender care takes place.

This comes down to insecure people, who believe nonsense, over established medical evidence for the sole purpose of discriminating and oppressing. Sorry. I just can't see it any other way. Especially as I"d bet BIG money those folks have never interacted with a transgender individual in their lives. But I'd bet big there's a WHOLE lot of those folks out there popping their prescription meds every day or giving them to their kids who are having issues. And then they run around screaming about freedom or "let the parent decide" what's best for their children. Pure hypocrisy that leads to really bad outcomes. They'd rather have kids kill themselves I guess.

@OggggO You seem to have a load of preconceived ideas of your own. The assumption you are making about the opinion of someone you know nothing about is really quite fun. Im not having this conversation with you because if I don’t go into complex detail of all the hows and whys, and if I did and each one did not align with your beliefs, your going to vilify me. I merely stated my opinion, I didn’t ask for this.
Not once did I state I was against changing who one is for their own health. Mental or physical. Im merely making the statement that doing this with a child is a really big thing, i find it scary as I myself know grown ass adults who have made these decisions and regretted the choice made. A child making this decision, scares me for their own mental health sake.
I am not looking for agreement. Im merely stating what I think about this,. Right here, in particular. Im also not looking for an argument. Leave me alone.

@nonsensiclesnail Sure your personality is different but did you decide you were a different gender at 20? That is an important distinction.

It reminds me of people in the 90s claiming being gay or bisexual was a phase.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I never knew who or what I was. I went along with social norms. I feel like an empty blank slate with no intent or purpose, so im not sure I can even begin to Answer this from the perspective of gender.
However, I was friends with a boy Who was a girl because his parents didn’t want a son. I see this sort of thing as an avenue to harm, rather than help, though I do realize that for some this is a help. But like anything good, it can be used for horrible things.
He/ she is no longer alive.
Its not a simple subject and thing that should be taken lightly or. On a group basis. This is a case by case situation. Blanket answers that cover a wide range of people are not a solid or healthy solution. And giving people the go ahead to totally change their childrens lives with a child’s consent is really scary to me.

And sure theoretically you could have some demented parents trying to do something like that but that is also why so much psych evaluation happens before it is even considered and it would never happen. Because of nuts like that safeguards are in place.

Just like they are not going to break the legs of someone and stretch the bones because someone wants a taller kid.
