Do you have a family member who thinks you don't like them?

I had a post-op appointment recently, and I invited my mother to go along so she could hear what the Doctor had to say. Afterwards, I took her to lunch and later dropped her off at home. The next day when she talked to my older sister, she said that she was surprised I took her to lunch because she didn't think I liked her. WTH?

I have complained here about my mother before and how she always dismisses me. But I have given her money to get her car fixed, she has spent the night at my house when her heat wasn't working, and she has called me when she needs help with something, yet she thinks I don't like her? That makes absolutely no sense and as much as I want to confront her about it, there's really no point.

I had a similar conversation with my mother recently.

How she knows she's more 'huggy' with my youngest sister and brother yet feels she doesn't have the same 'relationship' with either me (eldest son) or my other sister. (#3)

I think our parents just assign ideas about us over time.
Some siblings just get 'known' for being 'hit and run good time ' visitors.
It's a nice surprise when they turn up unannounced.
While others of us sort the day to day cooking/cleaning/bills and shopping.
